Fuel is the number one Operating Cost for an airline.

With this in mind, and knowing that all flights are recorded by QAR, Safety Line started to work on OptiClimb to help reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions during climb. Other opportunities appeared while applying Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to Flight (and in some cases RADAR data with ADS-B). Safety Line is now offering a full range of flight optimization solutions with OptiFlight, that includes OptiClimb, OptiDirect, OptiLevel and OptiDescent. Adding aircraft connectivity will allow us in the near future to provide real time decision making tools that the pilots will be able to use in the cockpit (like with our integration with eWAS).

OptiFlight – In-flight guidance is the only flight efficiency solution allowing airlines to optimize all flight phases including climb. thanks to machine learning performance models, accurate 4D weather forecasts, and customized recommendations issued to pilots for each flight.

OptiClimb

Thanks to customized speed changes at different altitudes, climb becomes a systematic savings oppotunity.

OptiSpeed

OptiSpeed shows pilot fuel time impact of Mach variations to enable on-time arrival at best fuel/time ratio. 

OptiDirect

OptiDirect recommends shortcuts based on historical tracks flown, with an indication of fuel and time savings.  Thanks to this technology, all pilots can benefit from historical shortcuts.

OptiLevel

OptiLevel advises pilots on best initial flight level and cruise level changes taking winds into account. Thanks to this technology, pilots choose the best flight level depending on wind trade-off.

OptiDescent

OptiDescent recommends a TOD taking into account actual track flown and descent speed based on wind and temperature variation. Thanks to this technology, pilots can fly the most efficient descent whenever possible.

Saving Achieved

Transavia France was the first airline to implement OptiClimb and OptiDirect.

Transavia’s savings:

  • 85kg fuel savings per climb
  • 18.067 OptiClimb flights in 2019
  • 4.837 t CO2 footprint reduction in 2019
